Independence?

Cages.
We lock the most people in cages.
And still we build more.
For what?
A free labor force.
[Of, By, and] For corporations.

Corporations are people.
I know because I am one.

One.
One nation indivisible they say.
I listen.
But all I hear is manufactured division.

The Civil War never ended.
Slavery never ended.
They only evolved.
I wish our minds would evolve.

Evolution.
No…evilution.
The idea that more suffering is necessary.
Toward ourselves.
Toward others.

We did this.
We created this.
But we don’t deserve it.
And we can change it.

We deserve to live.
We deserve community.
We deserve interdependence.
Dependence.
Depend(s).

If independence means funding a genocide,
I don’t want it.

If independence means no healthcare,
I don’t want it.

If independence means deporting families,
I don’t want it.

But we resist?
Maybe.

Your resistance seems flamboyant.
A performance.
