Late December
There’s a bird’s nest in the tree in front of my house.
Just to the right of the front door.
The tree in front of my bedroom still has its leaves.
In late December.
There’s a wildfire burning out in eastern Colorado.
In late December.
It’s been in the 70s here lately.
In late December.
IN LATE DECEMBER!!
It’s going to get harder to survive this planet.
But I want to try to survive here.
What a time to be alive.
To travel to Europe and be back in Denver nine hours later.
Kind of amazing.
My five year old niece asked me if drugs are bad the other day.
I said not all of them.
She also said “I spy something rainbow.”
That something was me.
My little ally.
The days will start getting longer now.
January I need to hibernate.
And by this I mean stay home and do computer work.
Increasing my screen time is how I make a bigger income.
What a waste of time.
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be the birds using the nest in the tree in front of my house instead.
Uncaged.
Untamed.
Untrained.
Untethered.
Unlimited.
